Early Life and Career

Born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska, Tim Walz grew up in a military family and pursued a career in education after graduating from high school.

After graduating from Chadron State College, he taught social studies, coached football, and served as an ROTC instructor.

Military Service

Walz enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in 1981 and served for 24 years, retiring as a command sergeant major.
