The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued severe weather warnings for parts of NSW, with heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail possible.

The warnings are in place for the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Hunter, Central Tablelands and parts of the South Coast.

As of 9am AEST, the BOM is reporting that severe thunderstorms are affecting parts of NSW and Victoria.

The storms are bringing heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail. There is also a risk of flash flooding.

The severe weather is causing disruptions to travel and power supplies.

There are reports of trees down, roads closed and power outages in some areas.

The BOM is urging people in affected areas to stay indoors and avoid driving unless necessary.
